Certificate and password page shows blank after certificate renewal in VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

  • After renewing certificates in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations, the Certificate and Password page displays as completely blank.

  • The SDDC Manager page also displays as completely blank.

  • The error:

     "Duplicate key ############### (attempted merging values com.integrien.alive.common.adapter3.config.CertificateConfig@####### and com.integrien.alive.common.adapter3.config.CertificateConfig@######) Please check connectivity"

    is observed in the VMware Infrastructure Management adapter instance by hovering the mouse over the red icon. (Operate > Administration > Configuration > Inventory Management > Adapter Instances > VMware Infrastructure Management adapter instances).

Cause

Duplicate trusted certificate entries exist within the VCF Operations trust store sharing identical thumbprint keys post-renewal, causing object collisions during inventory synchronization.

Workaround:

Stage 1: Restart Infrastructure Management Adapter Instances

  1. Log in to the VCF Operations UI as an administrator.

  2. Navigate to Operate → Administration → Configuration → Inventory Management → Adapter Instances → VMware Infrastructure Management adapter instances.

  3. Select all Infrastructure Management Adapter rows → Click Start Maintenance.

  4. Select all Infrastructure Management Adapter rows → Click End Maintenance.

  5. Record the duplicated key value displayed in the error message.

 

Stage 2: Remove Duplicated Certificates

  1. Navigate to Administration → Certificates → Trusted Certificates.

  2. Search for the certificate matching the duplicate key value/thumbprint obtained in Stage 1.

  3. Delete the matching duplicate certificate entry.

  4. If the error persists after initial deletion, repeat Stage 1 to check for additional conflicting thumbprints and remove them accordingly.

  5. Navigate to Administration → Integrations.

  6. Reconfigure the vCenter adapter instance → Click Validate Connection → Accept the certificate when prompted → Click Save.
