VMware vCenter Server

Issue/Introduction

RVtools times out while running on vCenters in linked mode. However, the RVtools events do not fail on all vCenters except a few in the Environment. (Intermittent)

You will not observe errors in envoy-sidecar, as envoy-sidecar service is not the cause as in https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/384498

vCenter versions 8.0 U3h and higher have been fixed with the issue as in the KB 384498.

Environment

vCenter 8.0 U3h and higher

Dell RVtools

Cause

RVtools timeout period is lower than the environment's requirement.

Resolution

Engage with Dell Support to increase the timed-out period on RV tools.

Workaround; (This is temporary fix for ongoing task of RVtools. However, continuous failure in every run of RVtools will be observed.)

- Restart envoy-sidecar service on vCenter to refresh the Endpoints access connections.

#service-control --stop envoy-sidecar ; service-control --start envoy-sidecar
