VCF Operations for Networks

Issue/Introduction

  • This article addresses an issue where newly added VCF entitlements are not reflected in Aria Operations for Networks 6.14.x (vRNI), despite successfully syncing in other products.

  • vCenter is successfully connected as a data source, and the infrastructure status is healthy with no apparent issues. This issue occurs only when keybased license is used in Aria Operations for Networks 6.14.x.

  • Reviewing the restapilayer.log (located at /var/log/arkin/restapilayer on the Platform) reveals the following error immediately after the system successfully fetches and marks the license as VCF-enabled:

    INFO settings.licensing.KeylessLicensingHelper KeylessLicensingVCFLicenseChecker-0 getHighestExpiryVCFEnabledVC:177 vCenter with dpId: VCENTER_###### is VCF_ENABLED

    INFO settings.licensing.KeylessLicensingHelper KeylessLicensingVCFLicenseChecker-0 getHighestExpiryVCFEnabledVC:177 vCenter with dpId: VCENTER_###### is VCF_ENABLED

INFO settings.licensing.KeylessLicensingManager KeylessLicensingVCFLicenseChecker-1 fetchAndHandleVCFLicenseInfo:258 No valid VCF license found.

Environment

  • Aria Operations for Networks 6.14.x

Cause

  • This issue is strictly reporting-based and has no impact on actual license consumption meaning key-based licenses will continue to operate without disruption. This issue is only present when a key-based license is present in Aria Operations for Networks 6.14.x.

Resolution

  • The Broadcom engineering team is aware of this issue and is actively working on a fix, which will be planned for an upcoming release.
