Issue/Introduction

When upgrading from VCF Operations 9.0.2 to 9.1 out of sequence (for example, upgrading SDDC Manager to version 9.1 first), component installation fails in the user interface.

Symptoms:

  • Navigating to Fleet Management > Lifecycle > VCF Instances > SDDC Manager and entering master node or load balancer FQDN fails with warning:

Invalid VCF Operations instance. Enter VCF Operations load balancer FQDN or VCF Operations master node FQDN.

  • Clicking UPGRADE under Fleet Management > Lifecycle > VCF Management > Components fails with error:

No versions are available for upgrade.

Environment

  • VCF Operations 9.0.2
  • VCF Operations 9.1.0

Cause

The upgrade attempt for VCF Operations is performed using an incorrect user interface and path.

Resolution

Follow these steps in order to complete the upgrade:

  1. Confirm that component upgrades adhere to the sequence outlined in Upgrading to VMware Cloud Foundatin 9.1.
  2. Upgrade the VCF Operations instance by uploading the VCF Operations 9.1 PAK file directly inside the VCF Operations administration interface.
  3. Review Upgrading to VCF Operations 9.1 for detailed instructions on uploading PAK files.
