TTL Settings for Compacted Vertices in DX O2

Issue/Introduction

This article explains the behavior of Time-To-Live (TTL) settings for compacted vertices in DX O2. When vertices are compacted in DX O2, the TTL is managed by the platform rather than inheriting the TTL from the source product (e.g., UIM).

Cause

 Compacted vertices in DX O2 carry a default TTL of 7 days by design. Once a vertex undergoes compaction, the source product settings (such as those in apm_bridge) no longer govern the TTL.

Resolution

The 7-day TTL for compacted vertices is expected behavior.

• Compaction Mechanisms: Compaction is triggered by MAC/IP level or Host level (Note: Host-level compaction is disabled by default)
• Design Note: As of current design, compacted vertices are managed directly by DX O2.
