XCOM Data Transport: Registration errors after applying PTF LU16627 due to missing Common Services PTF

Issue/Introduction

After applying XCOM PTF LU16627 and restarting the XCOM started task, the following error messages may appear in the job log:

• XCOMM1301E XCOM Data Transport product registration failed - RC=40, RSN=4
• XCOMM1305E XCOM Data Transport feature registration failed - RC=40, RSN=4
• XCOMM1303E zIIP feature registration failed - RC=40, RSN=4

Environment

XCOM Data Transport for z/OS

Cause

These messages occur because the XCOM product is attempting to utilize the Broadcom Feature Registration Service (FRS). This service requires Common Services PTF SO15973 to be applied on the same z/OS system where XCOM is running.

Resolution

To resolve these registration errors, apply Common Services PTF SO15973.

1. Ensure Common Services PTF SO15973 is installed on the LPAR.
2. Verify the PTF is active (you should see message CAS9R001I Broadcom Feature Registration Service is Active on the operator console when CAIRIM starts).
3. Restart the XCOM started task.
