Issue/Introduction

This article provides steps to troubleshoot and resolve 403 Unauthorized or "vAPI endpoint can not be established" errors occurring during vCenter data collection or provisioning in Aria Automation. These errors often indicate that the service account used for the cloud account is locked, disabled, or has an expired password.
Symptoms:
• Data collection fails in Aria Automation with: vAPI endpoint can not be established.
• Logs report 403 Unauthorized or Invalid credentials.
• Verification in vCenter confirms the service account is locked or the password has expired.

Environment

Aria Automation 8.18.x

Cause

The service account credentials stored in the Aria Automation Cloud Account configuration do not match the valid, active credentials in vCenter Server. This is frequently caused by credential expiry or account lockout policies applied to the service account.

Resolution

  1. Verify the status of the service account used for the Aria Automation Cloud Account in vCenter Server (e.g., check for account lockout or password expiration).
  2. If the password has expired, update the password in the vCenter Server User Manager.
  3. Navigate to the Aria Automation UI > Infrastructure > Connections > Cloud Accounts.
  4. Select the affected Cloud Account and click Edit.
  5. Re-enter the updated credentials in the Credentials section.
  6. Click Validate to confirm connectivity.
  7. Click Save to update the endpoint configuration.
