Child instance custom views, dashboard, reports not visible in Aria Operations Aggregator

Issue/Introduction

When using the VMware Aria Operations Federation Management Pack (Aggregator), 

• Unable to find specific custom metrics, dashboards, or views in Aria Operations Aggregator that were created in connected child environments.
• The aggregator instance only displays a subset of default content from the child instance.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

This behavior is expected by design. Custom content including dashboards, views, and reports created within a specific child instance is stored locally within that child environment. This data does not propagate or synchronize to the aggregator instance, as this is designed to aggregate metrics and health data rather than local configuration objects or custom UI content.

Resolution

To view aggregated data across multiple child environments, utilize the native capabilities of the Aggregator Management Pack rather than relying on child-specific custom content.

1. Access Aggregator Content: Navigate to Visualize > Dashboards in the Aggregator instance.
2. Use Out-of-the-Box (OOTB) Dashboards: Utilize the standard dashboards included with the Aggregator Management Pack. These are specifically architected to query and display high-level health and performance data across all connected child instances.
