VMware Aria Automation 8.x IP Allocation Conflict Resolution

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to deploy a Virtual Machine (VM) in VMware Aria Automation 8.x, the action fails or encounters IP address assignment conflicts. This occurs when an IP address within an allocated IP range is assigned externally in vCenter Server to another VM.

VMware Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

VMware Aria Automation does not natively reconcile IP allocation changes performed externally within VMware vCenter Server.

If an IP address managed by VMware Aria Automation is manually assigned to another entity in vCenter Server while the original VM is powered off, VMware Aria Automation remains unaware of the external assignment. 

Resolution

To resolve this issue and prevent future allocation conflicts for the affected IP address, exclude the IP address from the managed IP range in VMware Aria Automation.

Note : An IP address can only be excluded if it is configured as the starting IP or the ending IP of the defined IP range. 

1. Log in to the VMware Aria Automation console.

2. Navigate to Infrastructure > Resources > Networks > IP Ranges.

3. Select the network IP range corresponding to the conflicting IP address.

4. Verify that the conflicting IP address is located at either the start or the end of the specified range.

5. Remove or adjust the IP from the defined IP range boundaries to prevent VMware Aria Automation from assigning it to future workloads.

6. Save the configuration changes.
