NSX appliance virtual machine goes down and becomes unresponsive in vSphere console

Issue/Introduction

• NSX manager or Edge virtual machine goes down.
• vSphere console of the affected VM is blank.
• Reset Virtual Machine tasks remain stuck at 0%.
• VM console is blank or unresponsive.
• ESXi management commands such as esxcli or ls on VM directories hang indefinitely.
• CLI esxcli vm process kill commands fail to terminate the world ID.
• vmkwarning.log may show degraded hostd performance.
  vmkalert: cpu24:2104146)ALERT: hostd performance has degraded due to high system latency

Cause

Hardware fault in the physical server can cause erratic VM behavior.

Resolution

Inspect physical hardware for any errors. Please refer to the following KB for common hardware faults.
