Issue/Introduction

Scheduled reports in VMware Aria Operations are not delivered to email recipients as expected.

  • The reports do not appear in the Generated Reports section for the scheduled time.
  • SMTP test connection in Outbound Settings is successful.
  • Manual report generation and delivery works without issue.

Example:

Environment

Aria Operation 8.18.x

Cause

This issue occurs if the report schedule is configured with an incorrect or unsupported start date format. This typically happens when the date is entered manually or copied from an external source rather than using the built-in calendar picker, causing the trigger mechanism to skip the task.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must recreate the schedule with the correct format:

  1. Log in to the VMware Aria Operations UI.
  2. Navigate to Visualize > Reports > Schedules.
  3. Locate the failing report schedule and click the Vertical Ellipsis (⋮) > Delete.
  4. Click Add to create a new schedule.
  5. When selecting the Start Date, ensure you use the calendar icon to pick the date rather than typing it manually.
  6. Save the schedule and verify delivery at the next interval.
