Error: VM contains block devices that have no file systems on them during HCX OSAM migration

Issue/Introduction

• Migration fails during the validation or sync phase.
• Error message on the HCX_UI : VM contains the following block devices [device_name] that have no file systems on them. These block devices will not be replicated.
• The source VM is a Windows using the Sentinel agent.

Environment

VMware HCX 4.11.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the HCX Sentinel agent identifies partitions that do not contain a recognized or supported file system.

Resolution

This is a condition that may occur in a VMware HCX environment.

Workaround:

1. Verify the file system type on the source VM. OSAM supports NTFS for Windows.
2. Acknowledge that this partition will not be replicated.
