Issue/Introduction

This article introduces the vSAN Health check 'Cyber Recovery Compliance' and provides details on why it might report the error and how to fix the error state.

Resolution

What does the 'Cyber recovery compliance' check do? 

This check is to verify if the cluster configurations are compliant with the requirements of vSAN cyber recovery profile.

What does it mean when it is in a warning state?

If this test returns yellow, it means there are configuration issues found for the cluster indicating it's not compliant with the requirements of vSAN cyber recovery.

How does one troubleshoot and fix the error state?

1. Check each "Compliance Issue" & "Recommendation" listed in the "Compliance status" tab.
2. Cross reference the current cluster configurations in the "Host Configuration Details" tab to identify the compliance issue.

Please follow the guidelines as below to fix each of the compliance issue:

• For "The number of vSAN hosts in the cluster is less than 4, which is less than the minimum required amount for this cluster type", please add more hosts into the cluster.
• For "The total number of CPU cores on some hosts are less than 16, which is less than the minimum required amount for this cluster type", please reconfigure the host or replace the host with a vSAN Ready Node which is compliant with the requirement of your desired vSAN cyber recovery profile.
• For "The total number of memory on some hosts are less than 128 GB, which is less than the minimum required amount for this cluster type", please reconfigure the host or replace the host with a vSAN Ready Node which is compliant with the requirement of your desired vSAN cyber recovery profile.
• For "The network bandwidth on some hosts are less than 25 GbE, which is less than the minimum required amount for this cluster type", please reconfigure the host or replace the host with a vSAN Ready Node which is compliant with the requirement of your desired vSAN cyber recovery profile.
• For "The total number of disks on some hosts are less than 4, which is less than the minimum required amount for this cluster type", please claim additional disks on those hosts.

What does compliance issue "Mixed drives with different performance and endurance characteristics are not supported on hosts: [HOST_NAMES]" mean?

• vSAN Cyber Recovery supports different types of NVMe drives, which have varying performance and endurance characteristics. Mixing these drives on the same host can cause serious issues due to those differences. When such a configuration is detected, users should double-check the drives on the affected hosts.
• Users can refer to the “Supported vSAN Configuration” result in the “NVMe device is VMware certified” health check. Drives that share the same or similar performance and endurance characteristics will have the same “Supported vSAN Configuration”.
• Users can also check the drives in the Broadcom Compatibility Guide. vSAN categorizes different performance and endurance characteristics using the concept of “Tier”. Drives with the same or similar performance and endurance characteristics will have the same “Tier” information.
• vSAN Cyber Recovery supports drives in the "vSAN ESA Storage Tier" and "Cyber Recovery Tier".
