Custom attributes values not visible in View builder in Aria Operations

Issue/Introduction

 This article addresses an issue where custom attribute values fail to populate in the View builder in Aria Operations, despite being visible at the object level and in vCenter.

• Custom attributes are visible at the object level in Aria Operations.
• Custom attributes are defined with a space in the vCenter.
• Navigating to VCF Operations UI >Go to Object (Cluster) > Properties > Click on the property Value > Note the space appended to the end of the property value string.
  
• Unable to view custom attributes in the View builder.
  

Environment

VCF Operations 9.x

Cause

The cluster contains custom tags with a trailing space at the end of the name. This space creates a string mismatch during data collection, preventing the View builder from correctly referencing the property.

Resolution

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

1. Log in to the vCenter Server UI.
2. Navigate to Cluster > Summary > Custom attributes.
3. Identify the custom attribute with the trailing space and delete it.
4. Create a new custom tag in vCenter, ensuring no trailing spaces are present.

5. Wait for 5-10 minute for the collection cycle to complete.
6. Verify that the custom attribute values now populate correctly in the Aria Operations View builder.

Note: Stale properties with trailing spaces remain in the VCF Operations UI, they can be only deleted by deletion of the associated object.
