VMware vCenter Server VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

Following an manual upgrade of VCF Operations and vCenter Server to version 9.0.x, the VMware Cloud Foundation Operations client plugin displayed within the vSphere Client reports an outdated version (e.g., 8.18.4.0).

This discrepancy may impact functionality, such as license management and integration feature availability.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0.x
vCenter Server 9.0.x

Cause

The manual upgrade process does not automatically trigger updating of the the vSphere Client plug-in. It remains associated with previous registration metadata and does not pull the updated plugin manifest.

Resolution

To update the client plugin to version 9.X, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to the VCF Operations UI.
  2. Navigate to Administration > Integrations.
  3. On the Accounts tab, select the vCenter account, click the vertical ellipsis, click Edit.
  4. Click MANAGE INTEGRATION.
  5. If the toggle is set to inactive, switch the toggle to active.
  6. Click SAVE to commit the configuration change.
  7. Click SAVE on the Cloud Accout Information page.
  8. Wait for the VCF Operations instance to push the updated manifest to the vCenter Server.
  9. Log in to the vSphere Client and verify the plugin version. It may be necessary to refresh the browser session or navigate to Administration > Client Plugins to confirm the update.

Note: In VCF Operations 9.0.x, license application should be performed directly within the VCF Operations interface after confirming the successful plugin integration update.
