CA 7 Workload Automation

Issue/Introduction

This article provides guidance on the recommended CA 7 System Agent version for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 servers and the necessary mainframe configuration steps to establish communication.

Resolution

Recommended Agent Version: For RHEL 9 environments, we recommend installing Workload Automation System Agent Version 12.1 SP1 (or higher). While earlier versions may offer limited functionality, this version is officially certified for RHEL 9 and ensures full compatibility with CA 7 V12.1.

Note: For all new installations, we strongly recommend deploying the latest version (v24.x) to leverage the most recent security and compatibility enhancements.

Mainframe Configuration Requirements: To integrate a new RHEL 9 server into an existing CA 7 environment:

  1. Define the Server: The new RHEL 9 server must be defined in the existing IAS (Initiator/Agent Server) file on the mainframe.
  2. Refresh Configuration: Once the definition is updated in the IAS file, execute the following command within the CA 7 environment to refresh the configuration and apply the changes: /IAS,FUNC=RECONFIG
