Issue:
To produce all files needed for a conversion from 11.3 to r12 of CA 7, a DMPQ shutdown needs to be done. For many of our clients production systems, this is very difficult, since the systems rarely come down for months at a time. Is there any other way of doing this which does not require a shutdown of CA7 to get the DMPQ dataset?
Resolution:
For testing purposes you can copy the existing DMPQ file (could have been a DMPQ from a while back, but that's OK) unless you have DISP=OLD on the DD in UCC7ONL. This would probably be old data, but the issues I have seen from DMPQ data during conversion has been very old data that had been in 7 for years (or decades).
When you are ready to do the 'real' upgrade, then you will be shutting down 7 anyway and you will want the latest data (SASSBK00, ARF, VRM, and DMPQ).
Bottom line, the DMPQ data set is the only place this data is held in a format that the conversion programs can use.
