Issue/Introduction

In the VCF Operations console, enabling NetFlow/IPFIX for a vCenter data source in VCF Operations for Networks fails, as shown in the screenshot below.

Environment

• VCF Operations for Networks 9.x

Cause

The service account used to integrate vCenter Server lacks the required administrative privileges to query or modify IPFIX configurations on the vSphere Distributed Switch (VDS) and distributed port groups (DVPG).

Resolution

To resolve this, update the vCenter Server role assigned to the service account with the following privileges, ensuring they are applied at the root folder level and set to propagate to all child entities:

1. Distributed switch:
   • Modify
   • Port configuration operation
   • IPFIX Operation
2. dvPort group:
   • Modify
   • Policy operation
   • IPFIX Operation
3. Global:
   • Settings

After updating permissions, navigate to the vCenter data source in VCF Operations for Networks, edit the configuration, and re-run the Activate Network & Flow Collection workflow.
