Modifying network configuration settings on the VCF License Server appliance

Issue/Introduction

This article clarifies whether configuration parameters, such as the IP address or hostname/FQDN, can be modified on the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) License Server appliance post-deployment.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1

Cause

The VCF License Server is an opaque, hardened appliance. Post-deployment, configuration settings such as the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and hostname/FQDN cannot be directly edited or reconfigured on the virtual machine itself.

Resolution

To change the IP address, FQDN, or other deployment parameters of the License Server:

1. Deploy a new License Server appliance with the required configuration settings (e.g., new IP address or FQDN).

2. Decommission and remove the old License Server appliance.
