Cannot Locate the .tar.gz Disk Image for Edge SWG (ProxySG) GCP Deployment

Issue/Introduction

When preparing to deploy an Edge SWG (ProxySG) Virtual Appliance in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), the official documentation states that administrators must upload a .tar.gz disk image file to a GCP Cloud Storage bucket. However, when navigating to the Broadcom Support Portal (My Downloads) to retrieve the image, a .tar.gz file is not listed. Instead, only a .zip file (e.g., ProxySG-SWG-GCP-7.4.#.#-#####.zip) is available for download.

Environment

• Edge SWG (ProxySG) Virtual Appliance (VA)
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Broadcom Support Portal

Cause

This is expected behavior. Broadcom packages the GCP delivery files inside an outer .zip archive for distribution and download on the portal. The documentation assumes the administrator has already downloaded and extracted the contents of the provided release package.

Resolution

To obtain the correct .tar.gz file for GCP deployment, follow these steps:
1. Go to the Broadcom Support Portal and log in with your Broadcom support account credentials.

2. Go to the Software section and select My Downloads from the left-hand menu.

3. In the search bar on the My Downloads page, search for SG-VA 

4. Choose the correct product model/edition from the list.

5. Navigate to the desired version (e.g., ProxySG SWG GCP 7.4.#.#) and download the .zip file.

6. The GCP .tar.gz file is located in the .zip file.
