Issue/Introduction

This article provides guidance on the support status and best practices for running AutoSys Workload Automation components within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environment.

Customers migrating from on-premise or other cloud providers (such as AWS) often inquire if OCI is a certified platform for AutoSys.

Environment

  • Product: AutoSys Workload Automation 12.x, 24.1 and higher
  • Platform: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
  • OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Oracle Linux
  • Database: Oracle Database 19c, 21c

Resolution

AutoSys Workload Automation is supported on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) under the Broadcom Standard Support policy. While OCI is not currently listed as a "Certified" platform in the public Cloud Support Matrix, support is provided based on the certification of the underlying components:

  1. Operating System: Host the AutoSys Application Server, Scheduler, and Agents on a certified OS (e.g., RHEL or Oracle Linux) within OCI.
  2. Database: Utilize a certified version of Oracle Database (e.g., 19c or 21c) as the event server.
  3. Proximity: For optimal performance and to minimize latency, host the AutoSys database within the same OCI region and Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) as the AutoSys application servers.
  4. Connectivity: Configure OCI Security Lists or Network Security Groups to allow traffic on required AutoSys ports (e.g., 7113 for Scheduler, 9000 for Web Services).

Broadcom Support will assist with issues related to the AutoSys application itself. If an issue is determined to be specific to the OCI infrastructure layer, the customer may be directed to Oracle
