Introduction:

Use of DD Statement keyword (IE: RLS=RCI) with VSAM RLS files

Question:

For EASYTRIEVE PLUS, is there a recommended use of DD Statement keyword (IE: RLS=RCI) with VSAM RLS files ? Or Should the RLS Keyword be omitted?

Environment: 

Easytrieve using VSAM files.

 

 

Answer: 

Currently CA-Eastrieve does not support RLS. 

 

Additional Information:

We do not support SHARE or RLS on the FILE statement and also no COMMIT and 

BACKOUT in conjunction with VSAM files (with RLS=CRE). 

 

Record-level sharing (RLS) is a VSAM function, provided by DFSMS Version 1 

Release 3 and later releases, that enables VSAM data to be shared, with 

full update capability, between many applications running in many CICS 

regions.
