Issue/Introduction

• When adding a VMware NSX-T Manager data source, validation fails with the error: VMware NSX-T Manager: Invalid credentials.
• The cloud_admin credentials are confirmed correct via direct login to the SDDC console.

Cause

This issue occurs because the standard VMware NSX-T Manager data source type is intended for on-premises deployments using local credentials. For VMware Cloud (VMC) on AWS, the integration requires a specific cloud-aware data source type and a Cloud Services Platform (CSP) Refresh Token for authentication.

Resolution

Follow these steps to correctly integrate NSX-T from a VMC on AWS environment:

1. Register VMC vCenter: Navigate to Settings > Accounts and Data Sources and add the VMware Cloud on AWS - vCenter first. This is a prerequisite for adding the VMC NSX Manager.
2. Select Correct Data Source: Select Add Data Source and navigate to the VMware Cloud category. Choose VMware Cloud on AWS NSX Manager.
3. Authenticate via CSP Token:
   • Do not use the cloud_admin username or password.
   • Select the VMC vCenter added in Step 1.
   • Provide a CSP Refresh Token (API Token) generated from the VMware Cloud Services Console.
4. Verify Connectivity: Once saved, ensure the data source status shows as Enabled and metrics begin collecting (this may take up to 10 minutes).
