Issue/Introduction

Guidance on redirecting existing traffic to a different location within an L2 Stretch network environment using HCX and understanding routing dependencies.

Cause

 Traffic redirection in stretched L2 environments requires optimization to avoid asymmetrical routing and latency issues (tromboning), specifically involving gateway location and MON configuration.

Resolution

 1. Evaluate Mobility Optimized Networking (MON) to enable local egress at the destination site.

2. Configure MON Policy Routes to control traffic flow for specific subnets or destinations.

3. Monitor appliance capacity, ensuring no more than 8 networks are extended per NE appliance.

4. Use 'Run Diagnostics' on the Service Mesh to verify datapath health before and after redirection.
