Question:
We would like to know how we should assign CIType / CIMetric for a checkpoint in snmptoolkit probe.
In snmptoolkit probe, we are able to use any value for CIType / CIMetric.
Please tell us how these values works out in UIM.
Environment:
UIM v8.4
snmptoolkit probe
Answer:
The CIType / CIMetirc definition affects how the metric is displayed in USM.
For example, if you use 2.1.2:3 (CIType=2.1.2 / CIMetric=3), you are seeing below hierarchy display in USM [Metric] tab.
Network > Device > CPU > checkpoint_name
<Please see attached file for image>
(*) <wasp>\i18n\Nimsoft_<lang>.properties is used to resolve the hierarchy.

CIType / CIMetric definition also affects how the report is "Titled" in USM.
For example, if you use 2.1.2:3 (CIType=2.1.2 / CIMetric=3), the report is titled as “CPU Last 5 Min”
<Please see attached file for image>
(*) <wasp>\i18n\Nimsoft_<lang>.properties is used to resolve the title.

(*) If you do not specify any CIType / CIMetric for a checkpoint in snmptoolkit probe, the probe assigns 2.1.7:1 (CIType=2.1.7 / CIMetric=1) as default value.
The report is titled as "Dynamic Counter".
