Issue/Introduction

In VMware vCenter Server, files located in the /var/tmp/ directory, specifically the /var/tmp/vmware/certool.cfg file generated during the execution of the /usr/lib/vmware-vmca/bin/certificate-manager utility, are automatically deleted from the system.

Environment

vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

The systemd-tmpfiles-clean.timer mechanism in vCenter Server is configured to automatically purge files in the /var/tmp/ directory that have a timestamp older than 30 days.

Resolution

This is expected behavior and no resolution is required.

The vCenter Server automatically manages and clears temporary directories to prevent disk space exhaustion.
