Issue/Introduction

After renewing the VMware Identity Manager certificate, the trust re-establishment process with VMware Aria Automation fails. This issue results in the VMware Identity Manager portal becoming inaccessible.

The following errors are observed:

Error Code: LCMVIDM71059
Failed to promote default configuration user as an admin. Retry after providing necessary details.
Failed to promote local user to tenant admin on vIDM host
Error Code: LCMVRAVACONFIG590008
Failed to Set VMware Identity Manager HostName on VMware Aria Automation.
Failed to set vIDM Host on VMware Aria Automation VA

Environment

Aria Automation 8.18.1

VMware Identity Manager 3.3.7

Cause

The newly generated VMware Identity Manager certificate was missing the required Subject Alternative Names (SAN) for both the appliance and its tenants.

Resolution

  1. Recreate the VMware Identity Manager certificate, ensuring that all required SAN names for the appliance and associated tenants are explicitly included.

  2. Apply the newly created certificate.

  3. Re-initiate the trust configuration process between VMware Identity Manager and VMware Aria Automation.
