Error: SDDC Manager app health is affected with SDDC Manager Backup Job is in Failed State alert

Issue/Introduction

• In VCF Operations (formerly Aria Operations), an alert triggers stating "SDDC Manager app health is affected". This alert is generated by the VMware Infrastructure Health adapter when SDDC Manager Backup Job is in Failed State alert metrics from the SDDC Manager API fall outside of expected parameters.
• VCF Operations displays the alert: SDDC Manager app health is affected.
• The alert persists even though all SDDC Manager services appear to be in a "Green" or "Healthy" state within the SDDC Manager UI.
• Review of the SDDC Manager backup history shows that the last successful backup was completed more than 24 hours ago.

Cause

The SDDC Manager application health alert is triggered when the system detects that a scheduled backup has not run for more than one day. This delay triggers a "Failed" status in the health API, which is then collected and alerted on by VCF Operations.

Resolution

1. Log in to the SDDC Manager UI with administrative privileges.
2. Navigate to Administration > Backup Management.
3. Click Backup Now to initiate a manual backup of the SDDC Manager.
4. Monitor the task in the Task Panel at the bottom of the screen to ensure the backup completes successfully.
5. Wait for the next collection cycle in VCF Operations (typically 5 minutes). The alert auto-clears once the system detects a successful recent backup.
