Issue/Introduction

After upgrading VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Usage Meter from version 9.0 to 9.1, the appliance status in the VCF Business Services Console (vcf.broadcom.com) may appear as 'Unknown' or show the old version, despite local logs indicating successful data uploads.

Environment

VCF Usage Meter 9.x

Cause

This behavior is generally expected due to a reporting delay in the VCF Business Services Console backend.
The console requires a full data processing cycle to transition the status from 'Unknown' to 'Healthy' and update the version metadata after a version change.

Resolution

If you have confirmed that the Usage Meter appliance is successfully uploading data, please follow these steps:

  1. Verify Local Upload Status:
Check the Usage Meter appliance logs or UI to ensure that the "Successfully uploaded..." messages are occurring hourly.

  2. Wait for 24 Hours:
Allow at least 24 hours for the VCF portal backend to process the new telemetry data and update the display. During this window, the status may temporarily remain 'Unknown'.

  3. Do Not Revert Snapshots:
If data uploads are succeeding locally, do not revert to a pre-upgrade snapshot, as this will result in a gap in metering data.

If the status does not transition to 'Healthy' after 24 hours of consistent successful uploads, please contact Broadcom Support with a fresh log bundle.
