VCF Automation upgrade precheck fails with 'Target VCF Automation 9.1.#.#.###### requires VCF services runtime version 9.1.#.#.######'

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1.1.x

 

Cause

In VCF 9.1.1.x, VCF Automation is supported to work with a specific version of VCF services runtime instance that hosts the VCF Automation nodes. The VCF Automation 9.1.x upgrade precheck verifies that VCF Automation is installed on a supported VCF services runtime version. Otherwise, the Validate VCF services runtime version compatibility check fails with the version mismatch error.

 

Resolution

1. Modify the upgrade plan to use the VCF service runtime version matching the expected version mentioned in the error message.
   
   
   
   
2. Download the same expected version of VCF services runtime INSTALL binary in SDDC Manager
   
   Detailed Steps:

• • Log in to the SDDC Manager appliance interface.
  • In the left navigation pane, go to Lifecycle Management > Binary Management.
  • Locate the VCF Version dropdown menu and select the target version corresponding to the missing binary.
    For example 9.1
  • Click on the INSTALL BINARIES tab.
  • Search or scroll down to find the VCF services runtime component.
    
  • Select the matching VCF services runtime version specified in the error message and click Download.
  • Once the binary bundle is completely downloaded, return to your upgrade interface and Retry the failed VCF Automation upgrade/precheck task..
