vCenter Stage 2 upgrade error

Issue/Introduction

Customer unable to proceed with the upgrade 7.x to 8.x having the following stage 2 error during the upgrade.

 

"The vCenter had extensions registered that are unsupported by the new vCenter Server. Extensions: NSX Manager (by VMware) on https://vCenterFQDN/sdk/vimService"

Environment

vCenter 7.x

vCenter 8.x

Cause

NSX extension plugin 6.3.4.6845891  not compatible to 8.0

Resolution

Create a snapshot copy of the vCenter

Run vCert tool (make sure no certificate expired related on the vCenter)

On Main Menu as agreed with customer OK to reset all certificates with self-signed option 6 was chosen to reset all certificates to self-signed

Restart all vCenter services

Upon boot up we logon again to vCenter go to Administration > Plugins > removed NSX Manager plugins.

Redo the upgrade again

At this stage it manages to pass thru the errors during the installation.
