Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to App Control Server 8.13, the ServerLog.bt9 is filled with messages:

[16] 2026-07-21 10:01:14 (4056 CertValidation) CertificateQuery::PrepareChain: CollectChainTail did not build a tail; continuing with chain trust status
[17] 2026-07-21 10:01:43 (4056 CertValidation) CertificateQuery::PrepareChain: CollectChainTail did not build a tail; continuing with chain trust status

Environment

App Control Server: 8.13

Cause

This is a new informational message that is being logged at the default log level. These messages can safely be ignored.

• The App Control server checks existing certificates periodically and attempts to build the full certificate chain, including all Intermediate and Root certificates.
• When building certificate chains, it is expected that the task could fail due to multiple factors outside of the App Control application - most commonly limited internet access.

Resolution

The message will be removed from the default log level and put into high debugging in the next server release.
