Issue/Introduction

When using AppNeta Monitoring Policy Groups to manage multiple Web (experience) paths applications, saving a Selenium based Web Monitoring script on one policy may overwrite the scripts on all other policies within the same group. 

Environment

- Web Monitoring (Experience)
- Monitoring Policy Groups

Cause

This behavior occurs because Monitoring Policy Groups are designed to synchronize configuration across all members.

Monitoring Policy Groups are intended for bulk management.  When Web Monitoring is configured at the Group level, AppNeta treats the script as a shared asset.

Any save operation on a member policy or the Group template propagates the script body to all group members to ensure consistency.

 

Resolution

For complex multi-step Selenium scripts, avoid adding them to Monitoring Policy Groups, unless they are the only policy found in the group. 

The use of Monitoring Policy Groups is recommended for:
- Network Delivery paths that share the same path details
- Web Paths that using HTTP monitoring 
- Web Paths that use Selenium monitoring with basic identical workflows - such as open /
