Issue/Introduction

When executing an IDMS table procedure, freed storage violations are occurring.

Environment

Release: All supported releases.

Cause

Either the LOCAL WORK AREA or the GLOBAL WORK AREA as defined in the table procedure is not large enough.

Resolution

IDMS table procedures make use of storage blocks passed between IDMS and the table procedure program. These are called LOCAL WORK AREA and GLOBAL WORK AREA.

IDMS allocates these storage areas according to sizes specified in the table procedure definition. They are defined and referenced by the user written program defined in the EXTERNAL NAME clause of the table procedure definition.

The sizes defined in the table procedure definition must be large enough to accommodate the storage areas as defined in the program. If they are not, errors such as DC016003 freed storage violations can occur.
