VCF 9.0 to 9.1 upgrade task fails with the Internal errors: Unable to register components with VCF Operations.

Issue/Introduction

• Message: The Fleet lifecycle 'Component import' task with ID <ID> failed. Internal errors: Unable to register components with VCF Operations.

• Failed to discover component of type 'VIDB'. "(Undefined key: detail)', Unexpected server error has occurred., Failed to discover component of type 'VIDB'. '(Undefined key: detail), Unable to register components with VCF Operations.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.1

Cause

• Component Registration Failure: The vRNI appliances were powered off due to resource constraints.
• vIDB Discovery Failure: The credentials for the vIDB appliance had expired, preventing the system from connecting to and discovering the component.

Resolution

Step 1: 

• Check if vRNI appliance is powered off. Power on the vRNI appliances from vCenter.

Step 2:

Option 1:

• • Log into the VIDB appliance using vmware-system-user
  • If the password is expired, reset it to a new one, using below command and then revert it back to the original password. 
    • # passwd vmware-system-user

Option 2:

1. • If option 1 does not work then follow KB:424323 to reset password using VM console from vCenter. 

Step 3: 

• Retry the task failed in VCF Operations.
