How to manually clean up the nas probe Name Services Address Table

Issue/Introduction

How does the nas probe handle Name Services sources that are no longer valid? Can these entries be cleaned up manually to remove stale or obsolete downstream NAS servers and sources?

Environment

Cause

The Address Table within the nas probe's Name Services tab is a cache listing of resolved hostnames and IP addresses. This table does not have an automated maintenance or "aging out" process; therefore, stale entries for decommissioned servers or invalid sources remain in the list indefinitely unless manually removed.

Resolution

It is safe to manually remove entries from the Name Services Address Table. Removing these entries will not cause data loss, as active sources will re-populate the table automatically the next time they generate an alarm.

1.  Open the **nas** probe configuration (via Infrastructure Manager or Admin Console).
2.  Navigate to the **Name Services** tab.
3.  Select the **Address Table** sub-tab.
4.  Identify the invalid or obsolete entries.
5.  Right-click and select **Remove** (or select all entries if a full refresh is desired).
6.  Click **OK** or **Apply** to save changes.
