Issue/Introduction

Summary:

While converting DFSMSHsm data to CA Disk, the HSMGEN2 tries to recover with newname and then backup the data sets again with their original date and time.

The original Volume DS1ID1 does not exist anymore. So the existing backup is recovered with a newname to the Volume DCD003.

The following messages are issued:

ADSDM367*0349 OBTAIN FAILED FOR FM4 DSCB - JFCBVOLS DS1ID1 OBTAIN RC 0000

ADSDM120 2464 ERROR ALLOCATING VOLUME REQUIRED FOR PROCESSING. VOLUME = DS1ID1 , DSNAME =...

Instructions:

The HSMGEN2 job recovers the data set to a volume specified on the convert command, but the backup is created with the original volume which does not exist anymore. The data set exist on the DCD003 Volume, but is not cataloged.

1- Select data sets with error 2464 from this HSMGEN2 run

2- Try to recover them directly from DFSMSHsm

3- This should not work as well. Below you can see the error message, then the generated ARC statement to find the real name of the data set.

4- Do a HLIST and a HRECOVER, you should see the following message:

ARC0138I NO MCDS INFORMATION FOUND FOR DATASET SYS1.AOSCD

5- Use DFSMSHsm tool to check BCDS/MCDS integrity.

Now the best is to list the contents and compare with the catalog entries before running the CA Disk conversion to ensure DFSMS HSM CDS are correct.
