Metric data missing in VCF Management Pack for PostgreSQL when using PostgreSQL versions above 15

Issue/Introduction

• PostgreSQL metric data does not appear in Aria Operations.
• PostgreSQL logs (log/adapters/PostgreSQLAdapter/PostgreSQLAdapter.log) show errors such as:

• ERROR: must be superuser or have privileges of pg_read_all_settings to examine "data_directory"
• ERROR: column bg.checkpoints_timed does not exist
• ERROR: column "waiting" does not exist
• ERROR: column "sent_location" does not exist

Environment

• Aria Operations 8.x
• VCF Operations 9.x
• Management Pack for PostgreSQL 9.x
• PostgreSQL version 16, 17, or 18

Cause

The Management Pack for PostgreSQL currently supports PostgreSQL up to version 15.

Resolution

 There is currently no official support for PostgreSQL versions 16, 17, or 18.

1. Verify version compatibility using the 3rd Party Solution Interoperability Matrix.
2. For supported versions (up to v15), ensure the monitoring user has the required superuser or specific read privileges.
3. Support for PostgreSQL above 15 will be added. This is planned for a future release. No specific release date is committed at this time. Please subscribe this KB Article for further updates.
