Error: "Failed to upload the template to vCenter" / VCFMS-PUSH-TEMPLATE-001 when upgrading VCF Automation in VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

Upgrading VCFA gives these errors at subtask "Stage VCF Automation package in VCF services runtime":

• • Internal error occurred. Failed to upload the template to vCenter. Please retry the operation or contact support if the issue persists [VCFMS-PUSH-TEMPLATE-001]
  • Step stage_vsp_cluster_package failed.

 

Possible additional symptom:

• vCenter VM has an APIPA address (169.254.x.y) when we view the VM console.

Environment

• VCF Automation 9.x
• VCF Operations 9.x
• VMware vSphere 9.x

Cause

The vCenter cannot be contacted or the template upload could not complete.

Resolution

Ensure the following are corrected so that the upload can complete:

• vCenter VM is connected to the correct network which can be contacted by VCF Operations
• Come to the vCenter VAMI (https://VC-FQDN:5480) and making sure of correct static IP assignment
• Forward and reverse DNS resolution for the vCenter IP & FQDN (using nslookup) are correct and unique
• The vCenter VM has sufficient disk space for the template to be uploaded
