HCX “Migrate Service Mesh" fails when source HCX appliances are running 9.0.x and target HCX appliances are running 9.1.0

Issue/Introduction

During an HCX “Migrate Service Mesh" operation the "Run Checks" step will fail for the target site with the following error: 

 

"Service mesh with ID 'servicemesh-########-####-####-####-########' not applicable for transition. Only service meshes with photon backing appliances are applicable for transition" 

 

This occurs for the following scenario:

 

1. Start with a source and target VCF Operations HCX Manager that are both running 9.0.x.

2. Upgrade The target HCX Manager to 9.1.0.

3. After the upgrade is successful, create a Service Mesh. Here the source HCX appliances will be on 9.0.x and target HCX appliances would be on 9.1.0.

4. Now upgrade the source HCX Manager to 9.1.0. Whether the source HCX appliances are also upgraded or not does not matter.

5. In the Service Mesh UI click on "Migrate Service Mesh" and then click on "Run Checks".

 

Resolution

This issue will be resolved in a future HCX 9.1.# release.

Additional Information

Workaround: 

Perform a re-sync operation on the Service Mesh from the Service Mesh UI and then try the "Migrate Service Mesh" operation again.
