Introduction:
One of our users was getting the UCFBTCH 1469 message in a batch job on our production CV that brings her databases online. A little while before that the UCFBTCH jobs to vary the databases offline ran without any problem. The 1469 abends persisted until the CV was cycled.
Question:
What might cause the UCFBATCH jobs that were previously running fine to suddenly start abending with 1469 BACKEND NOT ACTIVE ?
Answer:
The customer ran CAIRIM to refresh the SVC while CV was active. This severs the connection for all external program connections to CV. All batch jobs that ran after that point would have received the 1469. Recycled CV and all is well.
