Bulk Job Control in WCC and WebUI via Group Attributes

Issue/Introduction

Users frequently need to manage and control multiple AutoSys jobs simultaneously based on a shared group attribute, mirroring the convenience of CLI commands like `sendevent -E STARJOB -B <groupname>`. 

Standard WCC interfaces such as QuickView and QuickEdit are optimized for individual job status visualization and single-job definition changes. Users may find that these tabs do not provide a direct method for addressing or sending events to multiple jobs grouped by an attribute at once.

Resolution

Bulk job control by group attribute can be achieved in the current WCC interface and the modernized AutoSys WebUI using the methods below:

Using the AutoSys WebUI Monitoring Tab:

The Monitoring tab allows for custom filtering and multi-select operations:

• Create a Custom View: Define a new View with a filter criteria targeting the specific group attribute.
• Multi-Selection:
  • In the Monitoring View results, use Shift + Click to select a range of jobs or Ctrl + Click to select specific multiple jobs.
  • This selection method works in both the center results pane and the left-hand navigation pane.
• Execute Actions: Right-click the highlighted jobs to access the control menu. Any action selected (e.g., Start, Force_Start) will be applied to the entire set of highlighted jobs.

 

Using AutoSys WebUI Monitor Tab:

In AutoSys WebUI (version 24.1.x and higher), the Monitor application is the modernized successor to Monitoring and does support bulk actions:

• Filter by Attribute: Use the search filters to display jobs belonging to a specific group.
• Bulk Action Workflow: Use the "Select All" feature. If the jobs span multiple pages, you can continue selecting jobs across pages to accumulate the full set.
• Centralized Actions: Once the jobs are selected, use the Actions dropdown menu at the right top of the interface to perform the required job control operation for all selected items.

Additional Information

• As it is performing a bulk operation against a  huge set of jobs, make sure correct/common operation is selected for these selections.
