Aria Automation Day 2 action Add Disk Fails With "ServiceNotFoundException Service Not Found"

Issue/Introduction
In VMware Aria Automation, executing a Day 2 "Add Disk" action fails. The deployment topology view displays no disks as missing or present, but the deployment action fails with the following exact error string:
com.vmware.xenon.common.ServiceHost$ServiceNotFoundException: Service not found: http://IP_Address:####/resources/disks/#######################################
Environment
Aria automation 8.18.x
Cause
A stale reference to a deleted disk ID persists within the disk_links array of the compute_state table in the provisioning database. While the initial disk removal sequence completed successfully, the tracking reference remained improperly attached to the compute component.
Resolution
Database modifications are required to remove stale entries from the provisioning database.
