HA tasks repeatedly run every minute on host in maintenance mode

Issue/Introduction

• vCenter Server has been restored from backup.
• "Configuring vSphere HA" and "Remediate HA" tasks repeatedly run every minute.
• In vpxd logs, you see HA is applied on a specific host every minute.

Environment

VMware vCenter 8.0 U3c

ESXi 8.0 U2b

Cause

Usually HA is unconfigured on ESXi in maintenance mode.

However, if vCenter does not recognize it after restored from backup, HA is repeatedly applied on a ESXi in maintenance mode.

Resolution

1. Exit maintenance mode.
2. Put the host in maintenance mode again.

vCenter will unconfigure HA on the ESXi and stop applying HA repeatedly.
