Issue/Introduction

Administrators may encounter a display error within the Physical View interface on specific VxRail cluster nodes. This prevents the viewing of drive telemetry data in the vCenter UI, even when the underlying storage hardware is healthy.

• The error message "This disk can not be contacted. Current information is not available." appears in the Physical View tab.
• Physical drives fail to display data within the physical view of vCenter.
• vSAN health checks report all drives as healthy.
• Dell iDRAC hardware management interface shows all drives in a healthy state.

Cause

The issue is isolated to a display or communication error originating specifically from the Dell VxRail plug-in. The plugin fails to properly poll or render drive telemetry data in the vCenter Physical View, despite the storage functioning correctly at both the hardware (iDRAC) and hypervisor (vSAN) levels.

Resolution

Since the core vSAN software and ESXi host hardware are functioning without issue, VMware support cannot resolve the plug-in's display fault directly.

1. Verify hardware health in iDRAC to ensure no actual physical disk failure exists.
2. Confirm vSAN health status in vCenter is green/healthy for the impacted disks.
3. Open a support ticket with the Dell VxRail support team to investigate the VxRail plug-in failure.
