Operations plugin stuck in redeploy loop in vSphere Client after upgrading to VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1, the Operations plugin is stuck in a loop of "Download Plugin", "Deploy Plugin", and "Undeploy Plugin" within the Recent Tasks of the vSphere Client.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1

  • VCF Operations 9.1

  • VMware vCenter Server 8.0 / 9.0

Cause

Interference from legacy VMware Aria Operations plugin data remaining registered within the vCenter Server Managed Object Browser (MOB) prevents proper plugin deployment.

Resolution

  1. Unregister legacy plugin extensions by following Cannot remove or disable unwanted plugin to remove com.vmware.vcops and com.vmware.vrops from the vCenter Server Managed Object Browser (MOB).

  2. Log in to the vSphere Client with administrator privileges.

  3. Navigate to Administration > Solutions > Client Plugins.

  4. Locate the failed plugin (for example, com.vmware.vrops.ui:9.1.0.0).

  5. Select the plugin and click Redeploy.

  6. Refresh the vSphere Client and verify that the plugin redeploy loop has stopped.
