Issue/Introduction

After upgrading VMware vCenter to version 9.1, the vCenter cloud may go down on the Avi Controller.

When this occurs, the down cloud will display the following error message: "Version 9.1.0.0 not supported".

Environment

Avi versions 22.1.x, 30.2.x 31.1.x, 31.2.x

Cause

This issue occurs because vCenter version 9.1 is not compatible with the above Avi versions. The vCenter API changes in 9.1 require a newer release of the Avi Controller.

For full compatibility and version details, please review the official VMware Interoperability Matrix.

Resolution

To resolve this compatibility error and restore your vCenter cloud connectivity, you must align the software versions using one of the following methods:

  • Option 1 (Recommended): Upgrade your Avi environment to latest recommended version with the latest patch (currently 32.1.3), which includes native support for vCenter 9.1.

    • Recommended version KB - https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/312808/vmware-avi-load-balancer-release-notific.html
  • Option 2: Revert or downgrade your vCenter environment to a supported version (8.0 or 9.0).
