When performing an NSX upgrade, users may find themselves unable to pause or abort the process via the UI or API. This typically occurs during the host upgrade phase when the Upgrade Coordinator is waiting for a VM to be migrated or remediated, and the service remains in a "busy" state, ignoring standard reset commands.
POST /api/v1/upgrade/plan?action=reset&component_type=host do not change the upgrade state. The Upgrade Coordinator (UC) service remains in an active, "busy" state while waiting for host remediation (such as VM migration). In this state, the UC may not respond to standard sync or reset operations initiated via the UI or API.
The pause feature of the Upgrade Coordinator has to either complete the current task it is on or timeout before it transitions into a full 'paused' state. The system can take up to two hours to timeout on the current task. If it is not possible to remediate the current task or wait for the timeout, open a case with Broadcom Support.
