Issue/Introduction

The Data Aggregator intermittently or consistently fails to synchronize with the Performance Center. The following error is observed in the logs or the user interface:

"Synchronization step has exceeded duration threshold"

Environment

DX NetOps Performance Management (All Versions)

Cause

When the time difference between the Portal (Performance Center) and the Data Aggregator exceeds the internal threshold, the synchronization process times out to prevent data corruption or inconsistent reporting.

Note: This is frequently caused by a "time-sync conflict" in virtual environments where both an NTP service (like chronyd) and hypervisor guest-integration tools (like VMware Tools) are attempting to manage the system clock simultaneously, leading to abrupt "jumps" in time.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ensure all components in the NetOps environment are synchronized to a single authoritative time source

Check the current system time on the Portal, Data Aggregator, Data Collector, and all Vertica nodes.
