Post-upgrade to 9.1, the Guest File System|Total Capacity metric is no longer populating for certain virtual machines

Issue/Introduction

• Some Virtual Machines (VMs) fail to display "Guest File System" metrics (e.g., Total Capacity) after upgrading to VCF Operations 9.1.
• Metrics appear for certain VMs but show as a hyphen (-) for others within the same vCenter and under the same policy.
• Inspecting an affected VM within the vCenter Managed Object Browser (MOB), the GuestInfoVirtualDiskMapping property is either missing, unset, or empty.
  Use the following steps to verify this property in the MOB:
  
  1. Sign into VCF Operations UI → Navigate to Administration →  Configurations →  Inventory Management →  Expand Adapter Instances →  Click on affected vCenter →  Locate the affected VM →  Click on the Show Columns icon →  Check the box for Identifier 2 →  Copy the cell for Identifier 2 corresponding to the VM → Paste this value in place of MOB_ID in Step 2 below. 
  2. Open the following URL in the browser: https://<vCenterFQDN>/mob/?moid={MOB_ID}&doPath=guest.disk

Cause

In VCF Operations 9.1, there was a collection logic change for guest file system metrics. 

Resolution

Guest File System metrics are not published for VMs with an empty GuestInfoVirtualDiskMapping property. This is expected behavior, as guest file system metrics are intentionally skipped by design if these guest mappings are unset.
